The Coalition to Save the Westside is a coalition of local residents, merchants and property owners who believe that developers should play by the rules.
Chicago-based JMB Realty Corporation wants to build a high-rise Office Complex at the northeast corner of Avenue of the Stars & Constellation Boulevard.
JMB’s 37-story office complex would be MORE THAN TWO AND A HALF TIMES what they are allowed to build -under the Century City North Specific Plan.
Under the rules, JMB is allowed to build 293,925.5 square feet of office space. The scheme submitted by JMB is over 731,250 square feet. THAT IS A 250% INCREASE IN SIZE!
Why can’t JMB do what every other property owner has done for the last 30 years and work within the rules of the Specific Plan?
Imagine What Will Happen Next
- What about all the other under-used properties in Century City: the closed Century City hospital site; the open lot near Century Woods; or vacant office buildings that could be torn - down and rebuilt at over two and half times their current size?
- How many more cars will this bring?
- How many more people working in Century City?
- How many more wasted hours in traffic?
The Coalition to Save the Westside is a group of local residents and community leaders, merchants and property owners who all believe that local developers should play by the rules.
Members include community organizations such as the Roxbury-Beverwil Homeowners Association, local community leaders such as Barbara Broide, Scott Diamond, Ken Alpern, Xochitl Gonzalez and Aric Gregson, along with local property owners such as Westfield LLC, One Hundred Towers, LLC and Entertainment Center, LLC.
Our numbers continue to grow as local members of our Westside community learn the truth about the JMB office complex and want to make sure the project is right-sized.
